Developed in Australia in 2012 as a meditation app, Smiling Mind has since expanded its content to support mental health.
It has recently launched the Resilient Families Program which includes meditations, interactive stories and activities for kids aged 5- 12 years as well as complementary content for their caregivers.
Smiling Mind focuses on recognizing and accepting emotions, developing healthy relationships, improving self esteem, keeping an open mind, learning the skills to be able to adapt to change and becoming more independent.
Smiling Mind is designed for all ages but has specific programs for the following age groups 7-11, 12-15, 16-22 years. ‘Feeling It’ is divided into Year 7-10 and Year 11-12 and includes episodes with titles such as ‘Stop! Worry Time: dealing with Uncertainty’, ‘Your Mission: Finding Purpose and Values in Life’, ‘Welcome to the Inbetween’, ‘What Shape is your Tree?’ ‘Your Side Quests’, ‘Doors, Doors, Doors’ and more. Described as “Australia’s go-to expert for youth-based mindfulness programs” Smiling Mind has reached more than 11 million children and young people.
